An easy and incredibly juicy beef breakfast sausage recipe made with a perfect five-spice blend. These homemade beef sausage patties are a delicious pork-free alternative for a hearty breakfast.
In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, dried sage, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl and sprinkle the spice blend over it.
Gently mix with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix.
Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and form into patties about ½-inch thick.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add oil if using.
Place patties in the hot skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until a brown crust forms and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
Remove from the skillet and serve immediately.
Notes
For the absolute best flavor, allow the seasoned meat mixture to chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before forming the patties. This helps the flavors meld together beautifully.
