A dump-and-go dinner that tastes better than takeout. Tender chicken thighs simmered in a sticky, sweet, and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights!
1.5lbs(700g) Chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
1/2cupHoney
1/2cupSoy sauce, low sodium
1/4cupKetchup
4clovesGarlic, minced
1tspDried oregano
1tbspCornstarch
2tbspWater (for slurry)
1tbspSesame seeds (garnish)
2stalksGreen onions, chopped (garnish)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, and dried oregano until well combined.
Place the chicken thighs at the bottom of the slow cooker.
Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring everything is coated. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours or HIGH for 2-3 hours.
Remove the chicken from the pot. Shred or chop into bite-sized pieces.
In a small cup, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Whisk this into the sauce remaining in the slow cooker. Turn heat to HIGH and let thicken for 10-15 minutes.
Return the chicken to the pot and toss to coat in the thick glaze. Serve immediately with rice and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
If you prefer a crispier texture, you can transfer the cooked chicken to a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes before tossing it back into the thickened sauce. This mimics the texture of restaurant-style chicken!
